Tyler Lackland was raised in Springfield, Illinois and is currently a third year medical student at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She currently serves as SLU-SOM Student National Medical Association Co-President 2022-2023 and SLU-SOM SNMA Pipeline Coordinator Elect. She serves as the Academic Affairs Co-Cooridnator for National MAPS SNMA and sits as the pre-clerkship curriculum representative for SLU School of Medicine's Pre-clerkship Class M1/M2. 

As a student-researcher, she is currently involved in clinical research within the fields of Trauma Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Cardiothoracic Surgery.

She strives to become a Cardiothoracic Surgeon breaking down barriers in a field with only 5% women. She is dedicated to diversity and inclusion in medicine, research, and medical education. She is the current titleholder of Miss Black Midwest 2024 and will be competing in the national Miss Black USA pageant in August 2024.
